The Flood Law Firm, in partnership with Middlesex United Way, spearheaded a countywide food drive on August 5 that collected an estimated 2,500 to 3,000 pounds of non-perishable food items for 13 food pantries and food banks across Middlesex County, Connecticut. The initiative, dubbed 'Flood the Food Banks,' aimed to address food insecurity beyond the holiday season, when donations typically surge but pantries continue to serve families year-round.
The drive was part of the Middlesex Pantry Project, an ongoing effort by Middlesex United Way to strengthen local food pantries and ensure consistent access to nutritious food. Residents donated staples commonly requested by pantries, including canned vegetables, soup, pasta, rice, peanut butter, cereal, shelf-stable milk, canned tuna and chicken, and macaroni and cheese. Collection points were set up at participating grocery stores and community locations throughout the county.
The Flood Law Firm served as the presenting partner, leveraging its community presence to raise awareness and encourage participation. Firm members also volunteered during the event, interacting with residents and contributing directly to the cause. 'Giving back to the communities where we live, work, and serve our clients is an important part of who we are,' said Brian Flood, co-founder of the firm. 'Flood the Food Banks brought our team together with Middlesex United Way and community members for a meaningful effort that will help support families and individuals throughout Middlesex County.'
The event also received local media coverage, including reporting from WTNH and a sponsored feature highlighting the partnership and community initiative. The results underscore the impact of community collaboration, with thousands of pounds of food and hundreds of dollars in financial contributions reaching organizations that serve Middlesex County residents.
