In November and December, CAHEC, a community investment organization based in Raleigh, NC, and Columbia, SC, actively supported low-income families through its Nutrition Assistance Initiative, sponsoring three significant food distributions and one School Pantry program. The initiative underscores CAHEC's broader mission to provide educational and wellness opportunities to families living in properties within its portfolio.
Two of the distributions took place in Rocky Mount, NC, where CAHEC partnered with the Interfaith Food Shuttle, a nonprofit member of the Feeding America National Network of Food Banks. Volunteers prepared and distributed food boxes totaling 21,029 pounds, equating to approximately 17,524 meals. Families driving through received bags containing fresh produce, meat, bread, and non-perishable items.
In November, CAHEC funded another food distribution in Greensboro, NC, in collaboration with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina. This event served 294 households, including 243 seniors, 404 children, and 394 adults. Over 37,000 pounds of food, equaling 31,029 meals, were distributed, along with essential toiletries. Each household received a gift card to a local grocery store for additional purchases.
Additionally, CAHEC sponsored School Choice pantries at Southeast Raleigh High School and Sanderson High School in Raleigh. As of November 30, the program distributed 4,203 pounds of food, totaling around 3,502 meals for students and their families.

This initiative is part of CAHEC's Community Investments, which aim to provide educational and wellness opportunities.
