Brenmiller Energy Ltd. (NASDAQ: BNRG) is positioning itself at the forefront of industrial decarbonization with its bGen thermal energy storage (TES) platform, which uses crushed volcanic rock to store renewable electricity as high-temperature heat. The company recently announced the commissioning of a 32-megawatt-hour system at Tempo Beverages Ltd. in Israel, designed to replace fossil fuel boilers and eliminate approximately 6,200 tons of CO₂ emissions annually.

Industrial heat generation accounts for about 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions, surpassing emissions from all cars, planes, and ships combined. Despite this, efforts to decarbonize industrial processes have largely focused on electrification, which faces challenges such as grid constraints, high electricity costs, and difficulty reaching ultra-high temperatures. Brenmiller's bGen platform addresses these limitations by providing zero-emission steam, hot water, or air on demand, using abundant volcanic rock instead of critical battery metals.

To reduce upfront costs for customers, Brenmiller introduced BNRG360, an energy-as-a-service model where the company develops, owns, and operates the clean energy systems. Under this model, customers enter long-term service agreements, and Brenmiller generates recurring revenues while capturing greater value over the project lifecycle. This strategic shift from equipment supplier to integrated energy infrastructure provider aims to deepen customer relationships and build a growing installed base of operating projects.

The global TES market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 10% through 2032, reaching nearly $14 billion, driven by rising electricity consumption, industrial electrification, grid modernization, and increasing renewable energy penetration. The expansion of artificial intelligence and data centers further strains electrical infrastructure, increasing the need for flexible energy systems like TES.

The Tempo project, already delivering steam power since June, serves as a key commercial reference installation. It demonstrates Brenmiller's ability to deploy TES at industrial scale and is expected to strengthen customer confidence, support future commercial opportunities, and validate the scalability of the bGen platform. The company is in discussions with other potential clients for decarbonization projects.
