BOXABL Inc. (NASDAQ: BXBL), a factory-built construction company known for its foldable housing units, has revealed a new concept aimed at the data center industry. The company announced its Server Pod concept, a design study for modular, factory-assembled enclosures intended to house AI and cloud computing infrastructure. This move signals an expansion beyond residential construction into the rapidly growing data center market, which is facing significant challenges in speed, cost, and labor.
The Server Pod concept is not yet in production. BOXABL emphasized that it is a concept only, designed to showcase the company's factory capabilities and to invite data center developers, operators, and equipment vendors to pursue custom design and manufacturing partnerships. The proposed configurations range from a 10-foot Server Pod with an estimated 0.5 petaflop tier to a 2,500-square-foot Server Tron envisioned at 16 petaflop operations per second. Actual configurations, engineering, cooling approaches, and equipment would be determined in collaboration with customers.
The timing is notable. According to JLL's 2026 Global Data Center Market Outlook, the sector is expected to grow at a 14% compound annual growth rate through 2030, with roughly 100 GW of new capacity coming online from 2026 through 2030. Up to $3 trillion in total investment may be required. BOXABL believes that factory-built, repeatable structures could help address the speed, cost, and labor challenges that the data center industry currently faces. By manufacturing modular pods in a factory setting, construction time could be significantly reduced, and costs could be better controlled.
BOXABL is seeking engagement with data center developers, hyperscalers, colocation providers, equipment manufacturers, and other partners interested in contracting the company to design and manufacture custom modular structures. However, the company noted there is no assurance that any agreement will be reached or that any Server Pod or similar product will be built. This cautious language underscores the exploratory nature of the initiative.
The company's foray into data centers builds on its existing expertise in factory-built construction. Since its inception in 2017, BOXABL has raised over $230 million from more than 50,000 investors. The North Las Vegas-based company's flagship product, the Casita, is a 361-square-foot studio unit that unfolds on-site in under an hour. It also offers the smaller 120-square-foot Baby Box and is developing stackable and connectable modules for larger residential structures. BOXABL began trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market under the ticker symbol "BXBL" on July 20, 2026, following the completion of its business combination with FG Merger II Corp.
If BOXABL can translate its modular construction methods to data centers, it could offer a new solution to an industry under pressure to scale rapidly. The potential for customization and factory efficiency might appeal to companies looking to deploy AI infrastructure quickly. However, the concept's success will depend on forming partnerships and proving the viability of such enclosures in real-world deployments. As the data center market continues to expand, BOXABL's Server Pod could become a significant new product line, but for now, it remains a design study awaiting industry interest.
