Baltimore Community Foundation Launches $250,000 Legacy Forward Grants for America's 250th Anniversary

The Baltimore Community Foundation (BCF) has announced the launch of Legacy Forward Grants, a $250,000 initiative to commemorate the United States' 250th anniversary by supporting nonprofits in Baltimore City and Baltimore County. The program invites organizations to propose projects that honor the past, bring communities together, and shape the region's shared future, with a focus on celebrating Baltimore's cultural and civic heritage while fostering collaboration across communities.

Grants ranging from $2,500 to $25,000 will be awarded to eligible nonprofits for projects or programs that take place between January 1, 2026, and September 30, 2027. Eligible organizations must have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status or a fiscal sponsor with that status and be based in Baltimore City or Baltimore County. Nonprofits whose mission focuses on education, historical preservation, or cultural preservation are encouraged to apply, as are neighborhood associations and improvement organizations.

The application period runs from November 1 to December 20, 2025, closing at 5 p.m. EST. Full program details and applications are available at www.bcf.org/legacyforward. This initiative aims to advance reflection, unity, and progress as the city prepares for 2026 and beyond, honoring America's 250th anniversary by investing in local efforts that celebrate Baltimore's history and build a stronger community.

The Legacy Forward Grants represent a strategic investment in Baltimore's cultural and civic fabric, providing resources for projects that bridge past and future. By supporting nonprofits that engage residents in shared heritage and collaborative progress, BCF seeks to amplify the impact of local organizations during this milestone year. The program underscores the foundation's commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive community as the nation marks its 250th anniversary.
