Carsten Stolz, Chief Financial Officer of the Baloise Group, has announced his decision to leave the company effective December 31, 2025, to pursue new professional opportunities outside the organization. His departure concludes a tenure of more than two decades at the Swiss insurance and financial services provider.
Stolz joined Baloise in 2002 and held various roles at both the group level and in the operating business before being appointed CFO in 2017. In that capacity, he served on the Corporate Executive Committee and the Group Strategy Board (GSB), where he was responsible for the further development and transformation of the finance function.
Thomas von Planta, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Baloise Holding Ltd, expressed gratitude for Stolz's contributions, stating: "We are losing a highly experienced executive and proven leader. Carsten Stolz initiated and successfully implemented the financial transformation of the Baloise Group. The Board of Directors would like to thank him for his significant contributions and wishes him all the best for the future."
The announcement comes as Baloise, founded more than 160 years ago, continues to evolve its business model. The company, headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, employs approximately 8,000 people across subsidiaries in Belgium, Germany, and Luxembourg. In 2024, Baloise generated a business volume of around CHF 8.6 billion. Its shares (BALN) are listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange.
Stolz's exit represents a notable shift in the company's leadership as it navigates the insurance industry's ongoing digital transformation and changing customer expectations. The search for his successor will be a key priority for the Board of Directors in the coming months.
