Arius Technology Launches Mobile High-Resolution 3D Laser Scanner in Collaboration with ABB Robotics

Arius Technology, a leader in ultra-high-resolution 3D scanning of fine art, announced the launch of its Mobile Scanner Identik400M, code-named Moneta, developed with ABB Robotics. The system scans eight times faster than previous versions and is mounted on an ABB GoFa collaborative robot arm, allowing digitization of artworks, monuments, and cultural sites directly on location. This expands Arius's color-accurate scanning technology beyond studio and museum environments, enabling capture of frescoes in chapels, historic interiors, and large-scale architectural surfaces.

Designed for mobility and conservation-grade performance, Moneta captures surface geometry and true color with accuracy down to 10 microns. It generates Arius Digital Master Files (ADMF) that underpin global preservation initiatives. Paul Lindahl, CEO of Arius Technology, stated that Moneta represents a major leap in protecting and sharing cultural heritage. In collaboration with ABB Robotics, the system brings world-class digitization capabilities directly to artworks, ensuring collections remain accessible and secure for future conservation and public engagement.

The collaboration pairs Arius's color scanning system with ABB's GoFa collaborative robot, enabling precise, stable data capture in previously inaccessible spaces. Andrea Cassoni, Global Head of Collaborative Robots at ABB Robotics, noted that combining ABB's robotic performance with Arius's imaging technology helps transform field-based conservation and digitally safeguard cultural treasures wherever they reside.

Moneta's data-rich files support conservation analysis, virtual research, museum-grade reproductions, and secure digital storage, including blockchain-based asset management. This launch builds on Arius's expanding collaborations with museums and cultural institutions worldwide, providing tools that bridge art history, technology, and public engagement.
