Andina Copper Extends Shallow Mineralization at Cobrasco Project, Confirming Northwest Expansion

Andina Copper's drillhole CDH009 returns 502m of 0.40% copper, extending near-surface mineralization 350m northwest, with the mineralized footprint now 1,200m by 550m and open in all directions.

Andina Copper Extends Shallow Mineralization at Cobrasco Project, Confirming Northwest Expansion

Andina Copper Corporation (TSX-V: ANDC | FSE: FIR | OTCQB: PMMCF) has reported outstanding drill intercepts from its Cobrasco Project in Choco, Colombia, confirming a significant northwesterly extension of near-surface copper-molybdenum mineralization. Drillhole CDH009, drilled from the same pad as previous holes CDH006, CDH007, and CDH008, returned 502 meters grading 0.40% copper, 73 ppm molybdenum, and 1.22 g/t silver from 38 meters downhole, including higher-grade intervals. This result expands the drill-defined mineralized footprint at Cobrasco Central to approximately 1,200 meters by 550 meters, with mineralization remaining open in all directions.

CDH009 was drilled to a depth of 954 meters, targeting the northwest continuation of mineralization intersected in earlier holes. The hole intersected a leached cap with supergene oxidation to about 41 meters, below which significant chalcopyrite mineralization occurs as disseminations and veinlets. Copper grades increase notably from 38 meters downhole, with the highest grades in the upper 300 meters associated with intensive sericite alteration. Below 350 meters, mineralization transitions to a lower-grade potassic-altered domain, but copper persists to the end of the hole.

Joseph van den Elsen, President and CEO of Andina Copper, stated: “Andina Copper continues to systematically advance its scout drilling programme in a northwesterly direction with wide spaced fans of holes aimed at expanding the envelope of porphyry Cu-Mo mineralization. The results of hole CDH009 validate this approach, significantly extending shallow, near-surface copper-molybdenum mineralization 350m to the northwest.” He added that all nine drill holes reported to date have returned wide intervals of high-grade, near-surface Cu-Mo mineralization, and a second diamond drilling rig is being mobilized to expedite exploration.

Two additional drillholes, CDH010 and CDH011, have been completed from the same platform, with assays pending. Geological logging indicates mineralized extensions into both holes. Wide-spaced scout drilling is also ongoing from a new platform located approximately 350 meters northwest to assess the overall scale potential of the Cobrasco mineralized system.
