The 78th Annual Arizona National Livestock Show (Arizona National) is scheduled for December 27-31 at the Arizona State Fairgrounds in Phoenix. Livestock competitions will feature top-tier animals from over 30 states, judged across categories such as cattle, sheep, goats, and swine. The Ranch Rodeo will showcase local cowboys and cowgirls competing in traditional ranching events like team roping and barrel racing, emphasizing the skills and teamwork essential to ranch life. Stockdog Trials will highlight the bond between handlers and their dogs as they demonstrate herding abilities.
The Farm Experience aims to educate youth and families about farm animals through interactive learning, fostering a deeper appreciation for livestock production and management. Youth Programs focus on agricultural education and leadership, including an Ag Mechanics Contest that underscores the role of mechanics in modern agriculture, a Farming Simulator Tournament where participants manage virtual farms, Horse Judging and Horse Skillathon contests, Livestock Judging and Livestock Skillathon events, Public Speaking Contests, a Tool ID Contest, and a Welding Competition.
Cattlemen's Day will feature grading and sale of replacement heifers and commercial bulls, offering producers an opportunity to improve their herds. The event underscores the ongoing importance of agriculture and community engagement in Arizona and beyond.
