The DFW Car & Toy Museum has added a rare and striking supercar to its collection: the 2010 Spyker C8 Spyder. Finished in black with fewer than 1,600 miles on the odometer, this handcrafted Dutch exotic was originally owned by NFL legend Reggie Wayne. It is now part of the Ron Sturgeon Collection, which continuously rotates rare and iconic vehicles into the museum's permanent exhibition.
The Spyker C8 Spyder is renowned for its aviation-inspired design and raw driving experience. Its aluminum bodywork sits on a rigid aluminum space frame, with adjustable independent suspension featuring Koni shocks and slotted disc brakes with Spyker-branded calipers at all four corners. The car's scissor doors, frameless windows, polished roll hoops, and exposed shifter linkage exemplify mechanical artistry. Inside, the cabin is adorned with engine-turned aluminum panels, milled switchgear, and polished door hardware, creating an atmosphere more akin to a fighter jet than a grand tourer.
Under the hood, a mid-mounted 4.2-liter Audi V8 delivers 400 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque, channeled through a Getrag six-speed manual transmission and a Drexler limited-slip differential. The C8 Spyder offers a visceral, analog driving experience that few modern cars can match.
Ron Sturgeon, founder of the DFW Car & Toy Museum, described the vehicle as a work of art with a license plate. He emphasized the car's unique details, from the exposed linkage to the aircraft-style toggle switches, and noted that its low mileage and connection to Reggie Wayne make it especially special.
The museum, located at 2550 McMillan Parkway in Fort Worth, Texas, has featured over 200 collector vehicles since its grand opening. It offers free admission and parking, and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. For more information, visit the museum's website at dfwcarandtoymuseum.com.
